Chassis:
The works prototype, this V8 Vantage GT2 first appeared during the 2008 Le Mans Series test at Paul Ricard. During that season, it made select appearances in the Le Mans Series and FIA GT Championship with limited success. It did score two G2 wins in FIA GT Championship rounds late in the year. Chassis V8 X2 was then dispatched to Japan where it raced in the 2009 Okayama 1000 km. Following select appearances with the Young Driver team during the 2011, it finally made its Le Mans debut in 2012 when it was fielded by Aston Martin Racing in the GTE Am category. The all-Danish line-up briefly ran as high as second in class in the Gulf-liveried machine before an engine failure in the second hour of the race brought an early end to their challenge. Later in the year, it was also raced at Silverstone but again suffered a mechanical failure. Retained by Aston Martin Racing through to 2021 for display purposes, it was eventually sold to a German collector. The next private owner had it restored to its 2012 Le Mans configuration by specialists Pursuit Racing in the United Kingdom over the 2023 / 2024 winter. Freshly restored and ready to go, it was consigned to the 2024 RM Sotheby’s Monaco Sale.
