I found both the SR1 and the 508 concepts a bit disappointing in Geneva.
While the SR1 was good looking nonetheless and interesting as a possible production model or to inspire some design cues, I was wondering about the necessity, purpose or appealing of the 5 by Peugeot (aka 508) concept.

The cutback window line lends the car a heavy Rear pillar, which they've done nothing to counteract.
Couple this with a heavy handed Whale mouth, odd front/rear overhangs (although somewhat less pronounced than the old 407), and the bonnet with it's concave surfaces...I think if was Patrick Le Quement who lamented concave surfacing on motor vehicles. Still, this is just..Well the parts that are interesting are ugly and the parts that are plain are dull. Dull/Ugly...Dugly?

All things dull and ugly, all Peugeots short and squat..

All things awkward and stupid, Peugeots to be forgot...

Need a pointlessly raised estate car with four wheel drive, but do not want to be associated with Audi and you think Subaru is a manufacturer of musical instruments? There's the answer.

Mmm, I bet they'll sell right into double figures.

You forgot to mention the Volvo XC70. :p

Skoda Octavia, Saab 9-3 and Seat all make "off-road'ish" cars :)

Looks ok, but it's pointless, it's probably ok but it’s not going to sell that well. Why Peugeot, Why.

The Volvo XC models and Audi's Allroad sell pretty well.
This could be a good alternative to those as it will be priced a bit below them. (and just think of that V6 Diesel in a 4x4 setup!)

Wow they didn't even try did they, they more or less mashed up the looks of the Audi and Subaru into their own off-road-ish wagon.

True, but there’s a lot of cars offering the same thing, yes the Pug will be priced a bit below them but still. The pug will have to be very good and offer a lot to outdo the other cars offering the same thing.

I would rather have slightly-raised wagons clogging up the roadways than SUVs and crossovers (though I guess this is sort-of a reverse crossover). Not only does this leave more gas, or diesel as the case may be, for the rest of us, I can probably see around it which is one of my biggest gripes about sharing the road with SUVs.
Also depending on who designed what and how well, these wagons aren't bad at mild offroading, not that any of their owners would take them to Offroad, wherever that is.

It's a traditional off roader design piece to use matt black wheel arches.
Not to bash you.
But your comment show that you don't know anything of that type of cars.

Again.
The 508 will be a lot cheaper than any of its competitors (maybe except the Skoda and Seat), so therefor it will appeal to a kinda different market.
