Would have liked to meet you John but can't make it alas as Mrs nota and I already committed to BIMF for the Easter 12 hour, which by itself is a $600+ gouge to the old kangaroo skin wallet. Very best of luck to your group of daredevils on Australia's most fearsome circuit and I'll follow your exploits closely on UCP :)
For online accomodation anywhwere Wotif.com: is a handy site to know despite limited selection. It only lists vacancies for 28 days ahead
EDIT: Found this total list of acommodation http://www.bathurstmotorfestival.com.au/files/download_3/08_bmf_accom_options.pdf may be useful in future
Your a legend Nota have saved the PDF doco, cheers mate, pity you cant make it:(
We started on the nephews cars yesterday, Robs car has a suspected broken gearbox or selector turned out to be a spigot bearing has come out of the flywheel, have never seen that before. The clutch needs repuking we get that done by a mate at extreme clutch for 80 bucks, flywheel is A1 but the pressure plate will get a light skim. The cars will be pulling taller gears plus more fuel so we dont want to do a Skaifey.
We have to change the W57 Supra box for a W58 on both cars as they run a more overdriven 5th. Dont know if we will have the HP to run to 270, we very much doubt it but at least with the ratios it the engine wont be banging against the rev limiter.

Clints diff is getting done the welded diff has shit itself and one of the spiders have let go and done a bit of damage. We have a E series Van Mazda diff, its the same diff as a RX3 just have to machine, the size of the carrier to accomodate the larger axle.
The boys are fired up Nota but a little intimidated about the track. They have been speaking to a few of the historic guys that run there with V8 mustangs etc and they reckon the crest is very SCARY down conrod with no real aero and road tyres.
will keep you updated mate.
Cheers
John

Sorry if I (inadvertantly) gave that impression?
I'd love to go & wish I could but its like Blue said. Over the New Year break we blew $3500 in seven days, which is uncomfortably more than I paid for Mercules. This includes me getting stitched $2000 p/w rental on the beach house  and now comes the 12 hour as well.
So its time to lash my remaining dubloons to the mast and start paddling

$2k/wk
Can understand why you are short on dosh
Think the impression was tinged with hope as well, but you get that

Where was this Holiday house? Christ thats exxy.
my Parents paid $1300/week for a Nice 3 beddy in Callala Bay (Batemans Bay + 20 minutes).....Hope you guys had a good holiday :)

5 bedrooms ensuites & spa blah bla perched on the cliff top at Lilli Pilli (11km south of B-B) it was a very nice possie I must say
My 'grand gesture' to wife's Dutch rellos on grand tour by motorhome from Cairns. We picked them up in Sydney and you wouldn't believe how much luggage we managed to cram into the two sedans. Pretty good view and you'll notice I snaffled the garage :p
But thats history. What I'm wondering about is charged' chargers charging down Conrod in elderly Corollas at 7000~7800 rpm v-max?!?!

One of my mates hired a place up at Younghusband up from Mannum in S.A on the river and he was looking at 1200 a night:eek: When my place is eventually:( finished I going to rent mine out over Christmas to New Year, its the worst time up the river but its when everybody wants to rent them. It will at least cover my running costs for the year and probably a bit left over to buy some beer with;)
The rollas are starting to take shape, Clint is getting his diff welded and new gears installed. Rob is getting his clutch re puked and pressure plate skimmed.
New pads are ordered, tyres will be here this week, and then its race prep time, its usually takes about 15hrs for each car but will be changing all wheel and axle bearings, uni-joints and strenghtening the front and rear spoilers with a few more support straps. It will probably be a 40-50hr exersize to get the cars ready. the we will take them to Mallala and see how they go before Bathurst, will probably take mine for a squirt also, Im hanging for another drive of it and have changed diff gears and ordered my short shifter today :)We dont want to drive all that way and have a car fail, more a saftey precaution also as if something goes wrong it could be catastrophic consequences.
Im stirring the boys up already, I said I will be at the chase and I want them to hit it without braking, (will be impossible though with the rubber their running) if I see brakelight it means their SOFT.
Nota to keep track of the events go to Natsoft its a live timing site and you can keep track that way.
