The reason, I believe, is that the influence of lotus is alot less than on the MkI. Iirc it's not much, besides the engien, that comes from the clever brains of Lotus

that could well be, I am sure it did not use the same rear axle as in the mk1, it used parts supplied by Lotus, but was assembled by Ford. Hence the car never received an official Lotus type number, contrary to the Mk1, which is actually the Lotus 28.
Another correction, it was only briefly engaged in racing activities, but still very successfull, in 1968, the lighter Escort TC did the rest...
