    Your luck ???!!
If you should see a man walking down a crowded street talking aloud to himself, don't run in the opposite direction, but run towards him, because he's a poet. You have nothing to fear from the poet - but the truth.

Russia doesn't have as many awesome talents as Netherlands does.

There's only question I have. How do the Dutch play such good football? They're out there making their opponents look like amateurs.

True, but it'll come down to a tactical battle between Hiddink and Van Basten. I think Van Basten is one of the best managers in the game today and I'd be happy to have him replace Sir Alex at Man Utd when he retires. On the other hand Guus is so experienced and just is successful wherever he goes which is a quality very very few managers have. Its going to be interesting.

They follow in the model of their idol, Johan Cruijf.

    They are also tall.

The colour orange is a performance enhancer for them.

    Etc.

They spell their names the English way here sometimes, it pisses me off.

Isn't van Nistelrooy actually van Nistelrooij? It used to be apparently.

As for the metric heights, unfortunately, that hasn't caught on in Canada and we still use the king's measurements - all I know is those van der Saar is tall.

Funnily enough, the Dutch aren't the tallest team at Euro, even though they are the tallest nation in the World (I think). I looked at the Euro 2008 site and they had all sorts of charts by age and height etc and the Netherlands were only decently tall, not the tallest.

    I was saddened.

being tall is not always an advantage in football, much of the play goes very low. So, the hypothesis that the Dutch are good because they are tall, fails.

I said it in a bit of jest.

However, height is important for corners and set pieces as the taller you are, the easier it is for you to head the ball. I'd also imagine taller players have longer strides and this can possibly help them run faster.

Seems he's turned his life around in a positive way.
...unless he's promising the team weeks of binge drinking for a win
