I voted for the lightning, I tried to catch one myself recently when having a vantage spot on the 20th floor in a Jakarta Hotel, but a very slow camera, so I can understand the difficulty in getting it right. I got 4 black pictures and then stopped...
On the other hand the fountain will not play tricks on you, it is a constant flow.

I voted for the Fountain because I think it looks "serene" and that it is better composed.
But I think a few issues come with trying to capture lightning.
Miscommunication seems to be a direct result of misplaced, text based sarcasm.

I'd say ten minutes of trying and you get the hang of it. I tried catching it taking continous shots with 30s or more aperture. Got a few, not as nice though.
