    Ok.... you're allowed to laugh....

    Hey guys,

I've been modifying cars for a few years now, makes me realise how much I really don't know I guess. A guy on my soccer team asked me the other day how he could get his barina to have a little more 'zip'...... After I recovered from my convulsions I actually got thinking..??

I'm not positive, but I think the early 90's barinas had a butchered version of the vauxhall astra 1.3 in them? I've come across a few mentions to turbo-ing those pommie beasts which leads to my question...

Does anyone know if there's a turbo that will fit a mid 90's Holden Barina.

    lol

    Cheers for you help

Barina the same as the Coras yes ?

OK, if he wants 'zip' drop the Vectra engine and 'box in.
220+ horses and upgrade the suspension/brakes to match and you've a car that can be a REAL surprise.
It's a shame that the Corsa has the bad image from allt he kids that add on plastic to make it look fast.
Add on the right bits and it can be a cheap VERY fast car.

its the Corsa alright, I dont know if Vauxhall/Opel have done the same thing, but here we've got the Barina SRi which has the 1.8L engine out of the Astra, the Astra SRi has the 2.2L out of the Vectra.......so by that idea Matra, you'd have a pretty lively car

well just think some of the numbers getting crunched by some riced up corollas and civics, compared to that its nothing i'll tell ya

the only problem i guess is controlling it, if your a good enough driver you could probably handle twice that but that would REALLY be pushing it IMO

it was the predecssor the Nova that I saw it done in.
Guy turned up for one of our trackdays and I thought "neat Nova" nut what's he doing in the "fast group" it looked almost normal, slightly wider tyres, but nothing done to the bodywork. We went out on the same session and I was going balls out to catch and pass him. it was getting embarrassing. Came in and went over to tell the guy how good a driver he is and see if he fancied a head-to-head. He then owned up to the engine and suspension mods. He'd spent about 10 grand upgrading everything and got a car that was bloody impressive. In the end it was traction out of the corner I beat him on and he woudl catch coming into the tight corners.

Made me MUCH mroe careful of the 'Nova' P)

yeah we had them cause of the Button plan, something this VIC senator came up with to keep the local industry alive when i think Nissan still made cars here and i think the Corolla was locally made
