Cars are both home safe and sound, very sick of driving
Both boys did very well, we were expecting if we finished in the top 25 we would be happyClint in the green car finished 4th in the last IP race (he was running second) with a severly slipping clutch and Rob the white car finished in the top 12. Rob nearly had his car hit in the chase if you look at Chris pic http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/forum...6&d=1206341790
the guy in the RX7 came in way too quick for the chase and rob had to get out of it. Chris can testify my brother (the nephews dad) was ready to hunt him down and kill him. The guy in qualifying put the rx7 on its lid in the chase and was on the ragged edge all weekend. We have lodged a report about the guy and hopefully the FOSC people will do the right thing.
The cars ran fantastic all weekend and we didnt even change tyres or pads, the service between races was bleed brakes, fuel and a general check over, it was very easy for the pitcrew The boys started the event doing 2.48s in qualifying and got down to 2.36s which is honking. The boys think they could find another 2 secs without changing anything. The cars were running too much spring for Bathurst and were quite tail happy and Chris would have seen with Robs car with a 4th gear powerslide out of the chase. Also the diff ratios were too short we were running a 4.1:1 when a 3.8:1 would have given us another 15km/h top speed although 260km/h down conrod is plenty.
We went their to see how we would run at a national level and left very happy our build costs for the cars is 1/5 of some of the real front runners and
our cars are home made. The only other turbo corolla there has had 3 times what clint has spent on his car and he blew him away up, down and on top of the mountain.
The top 3 cars were a league above the other cars but their build costs were in excess of 150k. The Newman Falcon was running at 280+kph down conrod and the rotaries fly down conrod. Hats of to them though the guys are great steerers and have no fear. The three fast guys have all raced on the mountain before also.
The boys take on the mountain was complete intimidation on the Friday practice sessions which were wet they had to follow a AMG 63 CLK round the mountain driven by guys who have raced their before, they wanted to pack up and go home. By the end of the weekend they dont wont to race anywhere else and hopefully taking all 4 cars over in 2010. I will race on that circuit before I die.
All in all a top weekend and the pitcrew had no work to do. The cars went on the trailer with no mechanical or body damage, the boys are alive and we drove home safley.
cant wait to have a steer in 2010

The SA boys all did well, we had 5 cars in the top 12, not bad for a hick state and home made cars as the NSW guys called us

Thanks guys
Yep MSN it was fantastic, we left feeling very satisifed, we built the cars oursleves bar a few things like engine and tuning and it felt great. We pushed our rev limits to 7400 in the turbo cars and they held together.
The drive home was ordinary slick 1200kms of holiday easter traffic, there was some ordinary driving displays on the way home
