It's a car, nothing more nothing less.
It's average, even a Kia or Hyundai is more exciting.
Well, at least it's better than the current one.
Not that, that was particularly difficult achievement...

The current 308 did sell pretty good, I believe?
But I think Peugeot needs something more then just an average car.
This market is a hard one, you have to fight for a place between the Golf, Astra, Megane, maybe even the Octavia. And than you have the Cee'd and the I30.
And maybe even the base model 1-serie and V40.
The C-segment is indeed one of the toughest and most difficult markets in Europe. It is also the most important by far.
The Golf is up there, unreachable, so let's just forget it. This will face stiff competition from the Focus, Megane, Leon, Octavia, Astra and of course the successful coreans; the i30 and the Cee'd.
I think the old one only did well mainly in France and to some extent in Spain too, but not nearly as well as Peugeot had hoped. The same is true with the 207 and 407. With the x08 cars Peugeot is going back to basics and they do really seem like life or death cars for PSA. I mean you can't go losing 5 billion € a year forever, do you?
What I frankly do not understand is the marketing stategy. Peugeot is supposed to be nearly-premium and Citroën more sort lower end but not too much, with the DSs (which are basically just posh Citroëns) on top. Surely pairing your premiumest offerings with your cheaper most basic ones on the same showroom doesn't make much sense, now does it? And I'm sorry but Puegeot just isn't premium... It seems like recipe for disaster...
